Anxiety
Anxiety is a normal part of the human experience and is necessary for our survival. However, sometimes anxiety can interfere with our lives, leaving us feeling powerless and scared. Anxiety manifests in a variety of ways. It can take the form of constant worrying, feeling anxious in social situations, phobias, fears of speaking in front of groups, debilitating panic attacks that make it difficult to do the things we love or just the ordinary tasks of living, obsessive thoughts, or repetitive behaviors that we feel compelled to do for fear that something bad will happen. Excessive anxiety restricts our ability to interact with the world freely. I use a psychodynamic approach that addresses the underlying causes of the anxiety, while providing specific tools to cope with and decrease the anxiety as it occurs. |
